Got a tropical anubias nana today the roots are 3"-4" long. I've tried it to a price of wood but will the existing roots attach or should I cut the roots back to the rhizome for new roots to grow and attach? If so how far back should I cut them without killing it?

The old ones won't, although offshoots from them will - it's fine to trim them. I guess about an inch or whatever works for where you are trying to put it.
