Hi All,
I am looking at creating some home made ferts for my low tech tanks 2 30cm cubes. today I just ran out of tropica specialised.

As for my larger high tech tanks I just use the standard Ei mix but with higher phosphates. and I was thinking if some of you great people might have the special formula for some low tech tanks .

I have had some good results with my low techs on tropica but it is sooo expensive for such a small bottle.

every week I only give it 2 squirts one on Sunday (WCday) and another on Thursday.

all the help is greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Josh

Can you just not you a small dose of your EI ferts?
Hi Nick,

that was my alternative thoughts but I was unsure if the ei ferts would be still too high in concentration in other factors of nutrients. even when reducing the amount.

Also I would like to just simply have a pump bottle that I can pick up and use one squirt and I'm sorted so to speak.

Thanks

Josh

use the EI "low" and reuse the old tropica bottles. its fairly simple providing you use the ukaps fert calculator. one pump for tropica is 2ml.

Hi all,
@GHNelson's suggestion. I used to make up my own mixes, but more recently I've been using <"commercial terrestrial plant mixes">, rather than <"aquarium ones">.

<"Solufeed 2 : 1 : 4">? or you can make up your <"own bespoke mix from scratch">. This is what @Happi does, and this allows them to customise their mixes.

You can always use the <"Duckweed Index">, where you use the <"leaf colour and health of a floating plant"> as an indication of when to add nutrients.
