So I’m setting up a DOOA neo air 20cm cube, I’m going for an ascending mountain range type of look. So this will be my first proper foray into using hardscape, so just looking for help on scale/rock placement. I’m going to be using micranthemum Monte Carlo, as my only plant and I’ll have a sand path running down the center. Any help or suggestions on how I can make it look slightly better, will be appreciated 👍😊

Thanks for all the suggestions 👍 i did a bit of a rejig with your suggestions in mind, and it looks so much better 😊 added some new photos. Thanks again, I’ll probs do an update one plants and sand are in 😊

UPDATE: ok so plants and sand are in 🤞my mc doesn’t melt, following the lazy dry start method employed by Jurijs Jutjajevs.

I like it how it is tbh, if I were to be super critical then I think I'd try one or 2 more rocks on the far right hand side going against the first foreground rock in order for it not to look similar to the rock on the opposite side and to bring it a little closer to the front glass if you see what I mean so they both don't stop so close to the same point. The path with some attention to detail like small broken up rocks of the same kind will look great. I'm looking forward to how this one pans out

Looks nice! 😃 I had a play on PS to see what I might try - feel free to totally ignore it, I just like playing with designs and I'd love one of these cubes!

I would be tempted to add a couple more smaller stones to support the larger ones, if you have any to hand. Also, like Greeny said above, some broken-up pieces along the edge of the sand path might look good. I saw in one of Juris' YouTube Videos when he made one of these, he used some broken-up pieces on the outside of each bend in the path, which looked natural.

Do you have any space at the back of the tank behind the large stone on the left? I wonder whether there would be space to raise the substrate a little at the back, and have some Monte Carlo peaking out from behind that 'mountain'?

Looking forward to seeing your progress :D Again, feel free to ignore my thoughts - I haven't done one of these before, I'm just dreaming .

Do you know what, when I first looked at this thread I thought there was another rock separated from that which I put a ring around but on closer inspection it was just the light that created the illusion :D I was gonna say I missed that but it didn't exist anyway! I think the updated one works better at the front for sure
