Hi,

After a few years of less my my full attention I want to start to give my tank some much needed TLC.

I dug my old JBL drop checker out of the cupboard and a bottle of 4dkH water I still have. I added the prescribed amount of 4dkH water and put in 2 drops of JBL reagent into the drop checker, however the water in the drop checker is still clear.

Do I need new reagent?

Yeah I guess the reagent is past it's best as it used to work fine.

Just tested the reagent in tap water and it seems to be working as it went blue straight away. We put it in the 4 kdH water in the drop checker again and put that in the tank it went yellow straight away.

Could the 4dkH water change over the course of 3 years stored in a plastic bottle, or maybe the water is full of c02....

Tried using tank water in the drop checker (I know I should not) and it started out blue. Just checked it and it's now green.
