So, thinking about getting a pair of dwarf cichlids. I have read that they require a cave for breeding and security. Easy answer is a plant pot, but what do other people use?
You can buy a trio of coconut caves for £9 off Amazon. Go ahead and treat yourself to a pair of dwarf cichlids. They are fascinating to watch and they are my favourite fish.
I agree, coconut shells definitely work from my experience and others. Really anything that is hollowed in that provides security for the fish. I've seen people use bricks to make cave-like structures but I think that's overkill in a dwarf cichlid aquarium unless it's a dedicated breeding tank.
