Easy reds...?

Hi,

I have the both those plants. They're easy to grow but the Limnophila is only slightly pink on the underside of the leaves. My water is probably a bit softer than yours if that has anything to do with red colouration...

Cheers,

P

Sorry, I meant Alternathera reineckii (1-2-Grow!). If I can find room for it I might get some Ludwigia sp. later as from what I've read, it's easy, very red and stays that way.

Don't rule out Rotala macandra. I had a 1-2-Grow! pot where most of the plantlets seemed dead or dying. However, they recovered and now it's almost like a weed in my tank. It's not red like the Ludwigia but a nice mix of red, yellow and pink.

The Alternathera should work just fine.
I've grown it red, with moderate T8 lights & liquid carbon, no pressurised.
Thought about a Lotus ?
You can teach it to stay small & compact by constant pruning.

Lotus are beautifully and red. Rotala indica I think is the pink species

Sorry rotala rotundifolia. Macrandra is supposed to be demanding good light co2 and soft Water.

Cheers - gone for the Alternathera and a red Lug. Many thanks all.

Cheers
