I have some but the dont make any ripels on the surface and would an inline diffuser work on it?

I would suggest yes, to achieve ripples have you tried raising the lily? I have that set and found that because the water is all sent to the substrate I got very little ripple unless I upped the lilys position.

This little modification helped no end too.

The tip of the lily limited flow, loads so I placed a trowel blade into one of the slots then tapped it sharply so it removed the tip of the intake. I then used a push fit eheim strainer (around £3 from all good aquatics shops) as the new intake. You wouldn't believe how much flow this free'd up.

how did you do that without breaking them??

I did break them. I snapped the end off. It'd be impossible otherwise.

Thinking about it, it's an operation probably best avoided unless you're brave/stupid. I was just unlucky enough to get a set that had next to no openings so the gain out weighed the possible lose.
