Hi Guys,

I'm a little stumped.

I read on James website the following for the macro mix:

Potassium Nitrate (KNO3) solution - 40g to 500ml of water.
Potassium Phosphate (KH2PO4) solution - 15g to 500ml of water.

Assuming they are in the same bottle 10 ml of the solution would provide for a 180l tank:

Potassium Nitrate (KNO3) - 2.04ppm
Potassium Phosphate (KH2PO4) - 0.48ppm

According to Nutricalc i should be hitting 2.66ppm KNO3 and 1.22ppm KH2PO4 on each dose (based on 3 doses a week for a 180l tank)

I'm confused.... can anyone explain? According to my calculations I would have to add 30g KN03 and 40g KH2PO4 to 500ml of water to reach the desired ppm from one solution.

Can anyone help before my brain melts?

For a 180 litre tank you would dose 30ml of KNO3 solution and 18ml of KH2PO4 solution. If you wanted to just make a single solution then you'd have to adjust the initial amounts. That EI guide was written some years ago and I must admit it is a bit hard to follow. When I get a moment I'll redo it so a single macro solution is made and dosing is added as so many ml's per litre of tank water.
