I'm planning to grow some emersed riccardia on rocks in my new tank. Does anyone have any tips?

I'm not sure how to go about fertilising it. Apparently misted EI tank water is too strong. DOOA makes a wabi kusa mist but I'm not sure if that's fish safe. Any other foliar ferts safe for aquarium?

It grows in tanks too doesn''t it? I would try it. You can always cut up tankwater with some RO 50/50 or so.

I would guess it would get ferts by water leaching through the rock. Can’t imagine riccardia needs much when growing in the air (C02 probably 650 ppm indoors). Main problem is keeping it damp. Check out James Wong for ideas on that front....

Hi all,
mist the plants with tap water, would it leave significant salt deposits when it evaporates?
It will leave a deposit, because the water is quite hard, but it won't be much deposit because it isn't much water.
Best to just use only RO? I suppose rain is essentially distilled water.
You can dilute the tank water it with rain-water or RO, I use rain-water, but you would only need a small amount of RO.

cheers Darrel
