These have all needed a fair bit of PP and are still dark, but at ISO800 they can't really be brightened up without a feck load of noise (and I've reduced a lot of noise!)...

Taken on a Nikon D40 (really poor for noise in low light at ISO400+), with 18-55mm Kit Lens on Manual Mode.
 
well thats suggests its a bristlenose. either its a female BN (hence no bristles), to me it looks more like a common plec. :(

Common plecs grow quite large though. This looks exactly the same as one we had before many years ago, which never grew any larger than 5", and never had any bristles on the nose. And I specifically asked at the fish store for an ancestrius as they are smaller.

Thankyou. Did some research after Nick's query, and I'm pretty sure it's a lady now :)

I have to agree. I bred this a while back and looks pretty similar. My females had very small bristles and were a lot smaller than the males.
