Hi All,

I’m not great at this journal stuff but thought I should share my plans/success and failures.

Tank total system volume is approx. 1200 - 1300lts depending on how much sand and rock is used.

It is three side optical glass, CNC single Euro bracing, external ghost weir side inlet returns either side of weir made by Ocean Displays bought second hand. The tank is mounted on a white powder coated steel frame and has 5 high gloss white cladding panels.

A 4 chamber sump.

16,000lts Laguna return pump,
some siporax,
1 x 500w heater, 1 x 600w heater

Hardscape
Plan to use bog wood & stone

Plants:
none

Animals:
None

Read Zeus's journal in featured tanks bit on forum on how to do big high tech planted well. Just copy what he has done and multiply by three.

I would advise to go with T5 lights, if on a tight budget you can DIY a canopy, or else buy some 4 tube unit wich are still available ( make sure you can switch them on and off solo or by pairs) (http://shop.giesemann.de/epages/Gie...t/Aquarienbeleuchtung/T5_Leuchten__T5_systems). You can always add some LED spots later if you want to highlight an area.
You want exactly need a sump in a planted tank but it won't hurt if you are not using CO2, just pack it lightly and make sure you can clean it easily, this will help "polishing" the water, in large tanks any slight turbidity in the water will stand out much more.
