Hey guys,

I'm looking some advice on floating plants. Currently I have a salvinia sp. (i think) in my tanks. I've tried duckweed, but its a major PITA.

I'm looking for something nice looking without super long roots.
Is this just wishful thinking.

Currently I have found:

Azolla caroliniana
Phyllanthus fluitans (i prefer this one atm)

available from tropica. Are there any others to consider, and is it worth the trouble and money getting them?

The only ones I've grown that never produced long roots was Salvinia. I love Amazon Frogbit and Ludwigia helminthorhiza though and just trim off any very long roots that form. They're both very easy to control too.

Have you considered riccia fluitans? This is traditionally a floating plant & should be available from stores stocking tropica

Will
