Also looking after 2 year old grandson. His dad brought him at 0615 yesterday
Crying his eyes out. Because he did nt want to leave his dad.

So solution as he loves the pond and fish. Haha. 2 minutes later
What dad.
Notice his little net for fishing on the wall.
3 hours that kept him occupied.
And another 1 hour. Cleaning the pond windows.
Love it.

Put a bit of new plumbing into the main pond. To shut top pond down
To keep the waterfall off. Untill spring time.
It now returns into pond 2 feet under water. To keep wind chill down.
Plus new cover on the pond.

Them rubber boots are brilliant.
Makes the pond plumbing so much easier.
On the top pond pipe work. I just put a end rubber cap on. To stop it.
And put a rubber boot T piece in to redirect it. And a ball valve.

So when spring comes. I will shut valve on the bypass take cap off.
And top pond and water fall will be back in operation
Photo of rubber boots i used.

Also had a wedding.
My son.

Had to empty the tank. Then top back up.
Using ST.
To beat the chlorine. Cheap and good stuff.

Hi all hope your all well. Took the covers off . After the winter. And started to feed again.
That was the 1st year ever with covers on.
And what a difference. My pond tempreture never went below 8c
And the fish stayed active. Through out the winter. Not once did they lay on the bottom of the pond. So a result.

I will be feeding quite sparsly untill the filters catch up for the bio.
I added anothe 40lts of helx13 plastic media a month ago. So thats
Now 320 lts of plastic media in the filter. Its now at its maximum.

No illness of any fish. So thats a result. Its took 2 years for the pond to mature properly.
New pond syndrome is now a thing of the past.

Things i did for spring maintenance
Where 2x new UVs bulbs replaced
3x new dechlorinater cartridges replaced.
Top pond cleaned out and nexus 320 filter cleaned out.

Also QT grow on tank filters all been emptyed and cleaned.

Just got 4x new plant pots to repot
All my palms.
And then use them pots to repot
Plant ferns on the pond upper level
Have a great spring
Fred

Grandpa's Pond still looks like a charme and like build yesterday.. :) Good to hear new pond syndrome is in the past. Never realized that a pond that size would take that long to fully mature.

Nice Iris BTW pretty large alread, good bunch of roots..

Plant ferns on the pond upper level

I can recomend Thelypteris palustris.. :) Bog Fern.. Winter hard and grows from 30 cm depth if fully matured.. Nice big boy in the summer..
