Gill Disease

Just noticed one of my guppies seems to have very bright red tissue inside it's gills. Is that a disease?

The rest don't seem as noticeable, but are red. Maybe it's just a change in the fishes development then. It hasn't been acting normal for a few days though, tends to just move around less than before.

This particular fish just gave up the ghost. Stopped swimming properly, and then just stopped breathing.

Sounds like it could be gill flukes to me, check this webpage out for some horror pictures of fish ailments, gill flukes is right near the bottom of the page.
