Glass diffusers - is there a rate limitation?

Something like this: http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/tmc-aqu ... -4390.html

It says it's limited to a tank of 200L. Why? Is it because you couldn't feed enough co2 through the small pipe connection, or because of the limited contact time within water while spiralling?

I ask as I'm wondering if this would work in my 400L tank if placed underneath a Koralia 3 or 4 to spread the goodness around the tank?

The pipe feeding the diffuser is not the problem - its the size of the ceramic diffuser - the bigger the ceramic plate the better - I have consider a reactor - this might be better for your size of tank.

There probably is a limit to the size of tank a given diffuser can adequately work on. As you increase the amount of CO2 being pushed through the disk the more larger bubbles you'll probably get, which relatively speaking will eventually limit the amount of co2 that diffuses into the water as bigger bubbles with rise up the water column faster.

However, I have often said that I think the whole 'this size diffuser for that size tank' is a complete misnomer. I've got adequate co2 diffusion on my 250lt using just one nano diffuser. Its more important where you place it than what size it is.

I have also ended up favouring the inline diffusers, which have worked a treat for me, and they get a bit of kit out of the tank :)

I've got two of these and would highly recommend them. Put them on the outlet of the filter, guess also that the closer to the filter it is the more co2 will diffuse into the water whilst its in the piping as well :)
