What type of grasses are there available? I'm on the look out for some Blyxa as it's about the only one I know, are there any that give a good coverage but stay short/grow slowly? I'd prefer something that grows outwardly quicker than upwardly, but that would not overtake my other plants, is that possible? I want to mix it in with the HC which I have just put in my tank (although I'm now not sure it is HC as the LFS said :? ) to make a nice carpet.

good grass plants are e acicularis and e parvula, parvula normally grows to about 2 in max IME and acicularis about 6in although can grow more.

the plant in the foreground looks more like HM to me ;)
Eleocharis parvula, that's the stuff I want, thanks very much. :D

Forgive my ignorance but what does HM stand for please, just so I can look it up and see what it's going to do in my tank.

HM = Hemianthus Micranthemoides. Also known as Pearl Grass (mostly in the States I think).
TYVM

Looks more like a midish plant :( maybe I'll use it around the Mopani wood.
