Hi All,
I have been running a Epiphyte only tank now, pic below hopefully for about a year. I have my light turned down to 10% on a 8 hour cycle daily, dose with Seachem Flourish Excel but still getting green spot. Now I know my plant choice is a factor as I have slow growing plants, has anyone got any advice on getting something that grows quicker to help out the anubias and buce?

Was using 2hr Aquaist Zero think it was called. was dosing daily upto about 2 weeks ago. Algae was there before the dosing stopped. only stopped as I ran out and was and still am thinking of rescaping the tank anyway.

2hr Aquaist Zero doesn’t include phosphates or nitrates. So you were never dosed phosphates. As I’ve mentioned before that could be the reason for GSA appearance.

By the way another way to confirm lack of phosphates is leaves turning darker color than usual and eventually growth stalls

Any recommendations on ferts? Either Tropica Specialised? Or 2hr Aquarist APT complete?

I saw someone using TNC as well but not surenifnyou could dose that daily if that is required?

Hi all,
has anyone got any advice on getting something that grows quicker to help out the anubias and buce?
Add <"some floating plants">, and then you can turn your lights up a bit and the plants will act as both <"net curtain and nutrient sink">.
After a bit of searching I found a floating plant that:
  1. Shows a linear response to nutrients,
  2. has a "leaf green" leaf,
  3. will grow in hard and soft water,
  4. persists in low nutrient situations,
  5. and that plant is my both my "Duckweed" and "Rice",
  6. <"Amazon Frogbit (Limnobium laevigatum)">.
This is what it looks like, if you <"feed it plenty">.
Any recommendations on ferts?
I use hydroponic fertilisers, how about <"Solufeed 2 : 1 : 4 mix">? I don't feed a specific amount, I just enough to keep the floating plant colour healthy and with some amount of growth.
£14 delivered from the <"Solufeed shop front">
If you want a "fish tank" fertiliser I think <"TNC Complete"> would do.

cheers Darrel
