the red nymphea is amazing. It gets red even without CO2 injection. Actually, i have to cut most of the leaves so that it does not block the light to other plants, otherwise, it would be massive.

I also got, what it seems, brown algae between the Monte carlo and the glass, maybe, even between the soil and the glass. Other them scrap it off, is there any efficient solution for this?

Use an old credit card (or other type of card!) And slide it down between the glass and substrate. Works a treat!... be sure not to get any substrate between the card and glass though or you'll get some nasty scratches!

A bit of an update.

It has been a while since i updated this thread.

Tank has been evolving well and kind of took a hit while i was in vacation. No ferts for almost a week and i run out of CO2, which is a receipt for disaster.

Had to do a major trimming and plants are starting to recover now.

Somehow Ludwigia pantanal has not survived the cutting and was replaced by bacopa colorata.

Currently the Hra is a bit overgrown and microsorum trident had seen better days. Monte carlo is still recovering and i am now focussed on fighting the last bits of GSA mainly on the anubias.

Other than that, just regular maintenance.

For the GSA, try increasing your nitrates slowly until it disappear. ;)

Do you think the key is to increase nitrates?

I was going to reduce nitrates and increase K and P, so that I keep dosing K and increase total phosphates.

Read somewhere that GSA was due to fluctuations of CO2 and low phosphates, but funny enough, i think in my case, the GSA shows after dosing the trace elements (could it be a coincidence?).

Have reduced to half of what i was dosing, reduced light intensity and have seen a major improvement. No apparent GSA on new leaves. (Fingers crossed).

The only drawback of reducing light intensity is I see less pearling and HRa is now more yellow/orange then dark red/pink. Ohh well I guess it’s hard to have both....

Sorry, I mean increase po4 not no3, my mistake :D

You could just reduce no3 too, it's an bit safer:greenfinger:

Some more eye candy.

Tank has suffered some rearrangements and i am still fighting some stubborn algae issues.

Its currently a bit on the overstocked side but i love nano fish just as much as plants.

In the meanwhile have been using an INTAQO controller which i am in love with.

Lovely looking tank! What are the stripped fish at the top of the tank? They look like they hug the surface fairly closely, are they jumpers?

Thanks you for the kind words. They are killifish. Epiplatys annulatus. Yes they are supposed to be jumpers. I did place a double polycarbonate sheet on top just because my kid frequently hits the cabinet and to be on the safe side. Sometimes I leave it out, and they don’t jump. When I had no sheet on top I left 3-4cm without water and they were fine. They love artemia and now every time they see me, they all swim frantically to the front glass.
