Heated Cable

Just starting new tank set up in a week or two - used an under gravel cable in my last set up. I see conflicting views as to thier benefits. I did find mine would pop up thorugh the gravel and it was a real pain but going for deeper substrate this time (ADA aquasoil mainly). To use or not to use? And if to use any ideas of keeping it securely in place.

dont think hardly anyone on here uses them although ADA do still sell them. Not sure on the pros/cons as to not using them though. personally with amazonia i wouldnt bother

there fine if you are using it to just heat the tank, although it proabably wont mannage on its in a big tank. there is no hard evidence that they aid plant growth despite manufacture claims and most cables are sold with suction cups to hold them down.
