Help Identifying 2 Whiptail Catfish

Hi all,
I was just wondering if any of you would be able to identify these 2 Whiptail catfish from my LFS. From what I’ve found online the first one is Loricaria Simillima however I’m not 100% certain as there doesn’t seem to be much info on the particular “morph” at my LFS (being sold as a Tiffany). The second one is being sold as a Royal Whiptail (Sturisoma panamense) and definitely does seem like it is!

Any info on them would be much appreciated e.g size, are they plant safe and wether or not they would hunt down any small shrimp.

It is likely to be a Loricaria sp. because it appears to have "feathery" mouth tentacles, and Loricaria spp are lip brooders. I've seen <"Loricaria "Rio Atabapo""> for sale a couple of times, and that would be my guess (but it would be a guess).

No idea for the second one. Have you tried putting the links on PlanetCatfish? Some-one there will know what they are.

Thanks for the quick reply! I did the first one was a Loricaria species due to that after som research but even through further research I still have absolutely no idea! I’ve just posted on PlanetCatfish as you suggested so hopefully I’ll find out soon enough. I’ll post back on here when I do find out!

Yep first definitely looks like a Rio atabapo crying whiptail. Second unsure, but perhaps a knobnose or Pinocchio although much darker than I’ve seen.

I had crying whiptail some time ago:

When they were younger the dark areas were more pronounced much like in your first image.

Dear gosh they sit there in the same spot for like a week but i love them so <3



Edit:
i am mistaken! mine are Twig catfish, i always get the names mixed up. But either way still my fav tank inhabitants over the years.
