how do I know if the hanging halide is at the right height?

The lighting consists of 2x 54W T5 and 2x 150W halide.

I searched for some guides/tutorials but can't find any. Can you please help?

there is no right height for them which is partly why they are so good. if you get algae put it higher and lower when you want.


i would start at about 50cm and go from there

I remember reading someone's journal about this. That person measured the spread of the halide by suspending it over the floor. He was trying to figure out how high to suspend 2 halide lamps in order to ensure full coverage of his tank. For the life of me, I can't remember where I read that now!
