How long shall I have the Co2 running for?

what time period should i keep the co2 on?

At the moment lights are on for 8.5 hours, co2 comes on 30 mins before lights on and 20 mins before lights off....

Lights on 3PM - off 11:50PM

I have mine coming on two hours before lights on and going off two hours before lights out. Don't think 30 minutes is long enough to get that CO2 into the tank before lights on.

youll see lots of opinions on whether to run co2 for 24 or during the photoperiod..

personally, I run it 2 hours before the lights come on, to 1 hour before the lights go off. I like to turn it off as it gives the fish a break.. plants cant use co2 without light, so IMO its a waste to add it during darkness. In addition, giving the fish a break allows you much higher co2 levels during 'on' times than would be possible from running 24/7.

big contentious topic though!! we've all argued long and hard over this one.

definatly wont be running 24/7 so 2 hours before and 1 hour before lights out it is.
