I have recently purchased a new 30x15x20 tank with stand, and I'm trying to source some lighting.

Planning of purchasing the following:
http://www.aquatics-online.co.uk/catalogue/d-d-aquarium-solutions-t5-lights.asp
(2x 24w)

Not sure if this will be sufficient light as the WPG is approx 1.8, so I'm also planning on purchasing the following:
http://www.aquatics-online.co.uk/catalogue/fluorescent-light-control-units.asp
(Glomat single starter 20w)

This now takes the lighting up to 2.4 WPG.

Is this suffice? Also can anyone recommend some other non overtank luminaire lighting?

The first unit on its own will be plenty for virtually anything you want to do. Not only is it T5 and a decent wattage it is a top brand with very good quality reflectors. The effect of good quality reflectors is very often overlooked with people being obsessed by wattage.

If you suspend it you will also be able to experiment with the heights to get a better light spread over the substrate!!! 1 inch up or down makes a huge difference.

AC,

Thats exactly what I wanted to hear, not often that I save money on aquascaping :D
I am also planning on using some of the tubes used in James thread (excellant thread by the way).

Will mess around with the spread of light once the tank and lighting system arrives.

Cheers for the help
