Anyone got a good method of monitoring circulation in none co2 tanks? Would normally watch the bubbles for this, is there any inert dyes or anything that can be used?

I tied my drop checker, with a short length of string to a stone, so it could be moved around the middle of the tank, rather then be just stuck to the glass. Using my 1500l/hr filter + internal 600l/hr filter in a 180l tank I found spots where the drop checker was still blue(ish) when lights came on, compared to a nice green/yellow in other parts of the tank.
A 3200l/hr power head fixed that issue.

I find brine shrimp dropped in the flow of the outlet gives you a good idea where the current is flowing or not.
You could add a little bit of Calcium / remineralizer to the outlet to get a fog to follow around. A little of this goes a long way.
Otherwise I have also used fine grained food or a fine bubbled / wood airstone placed under the outlet with good effect
