Hygro species

I have some hygro 53b, hygro compact and staurygen repens, 8 HR photoperiod and at about 7hrs into the photoperiod the leaves on the above plants are like ironing boards vertically pointing towards the light right up until the next day few hours before the new photoperiod they are relaxed again. Normal for this species or insufficient light or something?
