I bought here via Ebay from a german woman, Water Lily Specialist and breeder.. Hence the name..
Also need a better camera the coolpix i took this with doesn't give here the respect she deserves.
Never have seen a plant so vibrent in different color shades, green, pink, yellow, different shades of red. Unbelievable.

Still hunting for a shot when an Oto is hangen under here leave.. Oto's have a translusent head, they get a copper shine radiating trough their skull grazing the undersite of here leaves.

Hahaha that blond wig... Heino is so hilarious he will rock for ages to come... Don't shoot the piano player..
Thanks, i also think it''s a nice lily. That's not how i had it in magination when i bought it.. :)

How big will it get
Dunno, the seller stated its a special bred dwarfed lily which is best kept indoors (specially in winter) preferable in a few cm shallow bowl without soil or in a very small aquarium and just some drops of firt once in a while. The leaves should not grow bigger than a few centimeters, So i just took the chance and give it a try. I did put here on a elivated stage, but thats still more than a few cm about 15 cm deep and it has akadama as soil (and 1 cm black powder type blabla for the looks).. Have no clou if that will make any difference in the way she wil grow.. We shall see. She has 2 floaters now about 6 cm in size, the first one opened a week ago at that size and doesn't seem to grow bigger till now.

On the other hand, i have some experience with originaly a quite big water lily which should be placed quite deep. But did put it in a (to) shallow pond about 5 years ago. And didn't put it in clay soil but on gravel instead. At first it had a hard time to establish and never did want to grow realy well. Growing a leaf dying a leaf always strugling. But still survives till this day. last year and this year it came out about the same as this one. Rather small and tiny.

Now i came to think that maybe starving a lily not enough to die and just enough to survive will force a dwarf growth. But that's just a theory and observation in my pond. Dont realy know yet.
So thats why i took the change ordering this one to see what it will do in a tank..

So stay tuned, we will see what this will become.. im curious as well. Hope the breeder is worth believing here word.. And my theory is correct.

Its this one :)

It used to be a huge lily, it should be placed at least 80 cm deep in clay soil.. I got as a bargen in a pondshop. I kicked out all the lily rules and did put here in a 29 cm tub on a few cm of gravel with 1 clay ball. The first 3 years she didnt like it and nearly did nothing never bloomed grew a few leaves but never lived long. And they are real survivers up to the fight. And every year the leaves became smaller. The last two years she seems to be astablished and willing and getting used to only take food from the water collum. She grows more and smaller leaves now. She's rather early this year and is making her 3th flaoter now, not bigger than 3 cm.

I guess it takes a lot of patience to grow a dwarfed lily, takes a long time for the tuber to accept the conditions to do with what it gets and do good enough to propagate.
I think if you put it back in a good soil and a place to root it will grow uge again.. :)

There is a good chanc the lily in my tank will get bigger because of the soil she can root in.. Im trying to prevent that to prune the roots a bit. This one is already used to feed from the water collum.

Not yet :) did a lot of trimming, i did cut off the 2 big leaves, to trigger soem new growth. Like her to grow a few more submersed than just 2, rather not as big as she had first. But she shooting floaters now and holding back with the submersed leaves. Did cut 2 of them as well they where catching hair algea i had a lot in there lately. 3 are now back at the surface and the 4th one is 1/2 way. I can shoot some pics tomorow, but wont be so interesting as the first serie. Guess this will take a few more weeks.. :)

Owh, wait got a few from last week. :) But shot by daylight.

That rotala next to it is also gone already, was a left over i did put there to see what it would look like. Not what i expected..

I"ll see if i get a few tomorow evening. :)

This pictures i just had to take this morning. :) Here you can see the color of the leaves underside in the light. It turned over in the stream, but will turn back in less than a few hours by itself. Actualy when the topside is lit again, the green will shine trough so much that the red will fade and is not seen very good, you'll only see some red freckels.

Rosa Nympe is doing great, time for a little update i guess. I had a rather small but still very annoying algae issue.. Somewhat under control now, but still working on the stubborn devil inside my tank.

Did trim her back a few weeks ago took off 3 leaves and 3 floaters.. Now i got 5 floaters back and number 6 and 7 are comming, she shoots almost 2 floaters a week. And slowly is making some new submersed leaves, but these are realy slow now, it obviously not here priority to make them, i have a hard time to keep 'm clean.. But till now it works out great.

And i think she has a surprise in petto for me.. i believe she's going to make me 2 flowers. She's growing someting out i didn't see before yet. And as far is i now Nymphaes grow form they only have 3, floaters, submersed leaves and flowers.. So it must be.. So i'm rather exited if she will stick with it when it reaches the surface.. They hate to much flow, i realy don''t know what she will think of that when she gets there.

Hard to see, but they are there!!

Do you see them? Quiz question for the washing machine? :)

Never mind the stainless steel mesh in the back, dark black hole.. That will take months before that is gone.

The photos looks like its having your pond in your house.
Not that i know of.. It's not me selling it.. All the way on top of this topic i posted a pic from ebay from this same lily.. :)

But we are getting there.. :)
I already have a low flow tank and lately i reduced the flow even more and with in 2 weeks the first flower bud is comming out.
It's still very near to the bottom, no idea how long it will take to launch it to the surface or if it ever will. But it looks promesing.. Also she has a new runner finaly creating new and stable submersed growth as seen left of it. I thought she would do this much sooner, as in the last pic i posted above, but i was wrong there, it was actualy from another plant growig runners under lilys bulb. But this one is definitely her flower bud.

No idea how the rest will take it and if i can manage to keep running a high tech tank at this flow rate. But i'll try to keep it up till this flower is open.
If i get in trouble with this, maybe i should try multiple filter outlets to evenly devide low stream over the tank to prevent dead spots. That's an option i haven't tried yet.. :)

Thank you Steve and Roy, i could use some luck. i'm totaly straying from the path with this tank and running along the edge.. Till now it payed off, no shot is alway a mis, isn't it. Have to try things. :) Yes according to the seller it will be as above example.. Purple/Pinky.. Hence she called this cultivar Rosa Nymphe, is German for Pink.. :)
I'll think it will make it, it already grew 10 mm again the past day,, thats a nice speed for a plant.. She has about 16cm more to go. Leaves go faster at least 1 every week, but also see it start slow for the first 1/3 and than excelerate in centimeters a day.

Just to give you an idea of the growth rate of a healthy well fertilized lily.. :) The above picture is from last thursday.

This is 4 days later, yesterday..

This is today :) that's almost an inch in a day..
DSCF5206 (Kopie).JPG

3 more inches to go to pop the surface.. :woot: And explode.. :nailbiting:

They hate flow and what is this turt doing? Growing her first flower right in front of the filter outlet.. :bored: 2 more inches and she gets the full blow.. I'm afraid to touch it :nailbiting: and lead to the back of the ball. Might brake the stem, i would never forgive myself.. I have to think of something realy soon..
