I have seen these types of backgrounds used well in aquascaping, but it all depends on the style of the scape. If your going for allmost a biotope look, then these can work really well. But it all depends on the quality and the detail in them. These IMO do not look as good as the ones I have seen.
But thanks for showing us, some my find it usefull.
