Quite simply YES. It was designed with beginners in mind as it does away with water testing and worrying if there are enough nutrients available for the plants. May look a bit daunting at first but once you've started you'll find it very easy to follow.

Any questions please fire away.

you'll be sorry you said that!.....

are the relevant products widely available
or is it an aquaessentials job

I need to get a bunch of gear from germany (zooplus, aquaristic, ebay)
and would hope to get them there to save on postage

the post from england to ireland is crazy
(it would have cost £88 to post two bags of ada to me
but aquaristic will post me 20kgs for 20euro!, zooplus is free)

Many thanks James (and all)

Some garden centres stock the ingredients such as Garden Direct - http://www.gardendirect.co.uk/. Or eBay but potassium nitrate may be a problem. Most online aquarium stores won't stock them. Aqua Essentials are the safest bet though and the ingredients will last you yonks.

I would try http://www.aquaristikshop.de as well, reasonable postage charges and good prices, 3% off total over 60 Euros I think. I am German and used most of the German suppliers in the past - other choices may be http://www.zajac.de or http://www.willner.tv, I am just not sure the sites are available in English, too. The recent loss of value of the pound however reduces their attractiveness a little bit.

I am in with you as a beginner on EI (or PMDD, I have not quite figured out the difference), please ask loads of questions, people might get fed up with seeing my name all the time...

Good luck, Henrik
