Is this diatom and am I doing ok?

Just wanted to update again because I think it will give hope to newbies when setting up new tanks and pestered with diatoms.
Tank has grown in nicely.
I do two water changes per week which seems to be working well.

That is looking great. I'd be pretty happy with that.

Fingers crossed it's starting to come right at last!

I know it is <"difficult at the times">, but often <"time is the answer">.

Just to add something.

Don’t be tricked by this brown stringy layer on the bottom of your tank.

I’m my case i though it’s only a diatom algae and after two weeks my tank ended up like this:

It turned out to be Cyanobacteria after a while and has covered literally everything.

I could of smell this specific type smell before that in early stage but wasn’t sure as it wasn’t visible yet so i’ve left it untouched hoping it will go away by itself.

I’ve cleaned everything out yesterday but still waiting to Ultra Life to arrive to get rid of it completely.

For now it seems to be ok:
