After my fishes start to dying, I have posted one thread here and in another forum asking for help. In the another forum, they adviced me, to start with a salt treatment with half the dose, because plants and corydoras, and with a med for internal parasites.

My tank was completely free of algae at the time, and right after added the salt, new kind of algae started to grow in my leaves borders. After two weeks of treatment, I started to remove the salt gradually and add activated carbon to the filter to remove meds.

I finally remove all the salt (to the trace values), today (3 weeks since the start), but now the algae outbreak are most worst.

To get the things worst, the meds have kill some BB, and my amonia are 0, but nitrite gets the 0,05 during night, and back to 0 during day due the plants uptake.
My nitrates are near 0 too at the end of the day, since I stop to add tropica specialized because the nitrogenous source are nh4no3, and this will rise nitrite even further after the conversion of nh4.

I have dipped the algae in alcohol, and it turned red. What kind of algae I’m dealing with? How can I get rid of it?

thank you

It is staghorn algae. Water change a, filter cleaning, optimise co2 level and distribution, make sure plants are well fed.

Trim off all the badly affected leaves. Use seachem excel, TNC carbon, or peroxide on hardscape when exposed during water changes.

Good luck. Horrible stuff.

I have exactly the same problem it just keeps coming back my cherry shrimp love it though I moved one of the plants with it on into there tank after realising this with in 48 hours it was clean
Now I don't recommend doing this I just seen them eating it of one of the plants and thought I'll test the theory
I moved some of the shrimp into my bigger tank and they hardly touch it don't really under stand
Why
Hopefully though I should go away now I have co2 and flourish 😌
