Evening all

I've just given my canisters a good clean this afternoon and some of the older spongers are looking like they'll need replacing.

I was just browsing several sites for the profiled pond foams which is what I usually use and I came across some Japanese matting that costs around the same and looks like it'd do the job.

Has anyone ever used this in a canister? What are your thoughts?

Decided to give Eheim Fix a go instead. Certainly a bit different to either foams or Jap mat but I'm hoping it'll be easier to clean as some of the gunk on my 30ppi sponges is unbelievable.

So I swapped out the old sponges with Eheim Fix this evening.

Really odd stuff, very coarse and clumped together but still easier than cutting new sponges to size.

I'm going to bet that it's a doddle to clean compared to sponges.
