Is it safe to use thin strips of lead to hold plants down until their roots take hold?

yes, thats almost what it is there for!
often, you see 'bunches' of plants at your local aquatic store held by lead weight, and once upon a time the pots had lead in them too. Now however, it is all ceramic disks.


make sure the lead is clean though
