So I dumped 45g of KNO3 into 250ml of water as I have always to set up my dosing but this time I notice something different...... the water I used which was room temperature (about 22c) dramatically dropped to about 5 degrees C after the salts went in!

Anyone care to explain in layman's terms why this is? Is it the opposite to an exothermic reaction?

Damn I love science - even if I don't understand it.
