I'm 50+ years old. Been lurking for 5 years.

Have 3 aquariums, all with plants and fish:
- All low tech.
- Filled with remineralised RO (own filter); saltyshrimp

Most recently have been experimenting with:
- the 'floating plant' index (still very early days)
- diy CO2 on my quarantine tank (yeast with CO2 going into a bell).
- a real TDS meter! (makes big difference); HM Digital COM-100

I forgot to say, even though 5 years, I consider myself a noob :D
I'm learning (and forgetting) every day.
Slowly realising that many points repeated on here are truth (must live without test kits, too much light is a real problem)

Welcome  How does the TDS meter make a big difference?

The old meter was confusing me!
https://www.ukaps.org/forum/threads/tds-what-a-mess.62066/#post-611953\

I kind of thought that perhaps it was ok for TDS to go down by 30 in 1 day, perhaps that was the plants using up salts....
But then I found a post here saying it didn't make sense for it to go down

My RO water was also coming out at 0-1 TDS using the old meter, the new says 4 TDS so I replaced the DI resin. (TBH I think I'm being too anal here, and I should be mixing my RO with tap water etc, rather than going for 0 and then adding everything what I want o_O)
