Hi All

Just wanted some advice regarding Marsilea hirsuta vs Hydrocotyle tripartita for a low tech carpeting plant.

Looking to create a low tech tank with aqua gro nutrasoil substrate, 1.6 w/gal light and daily dosing of liquid carbon.

Are either of these a realistic choice for this type of tank?
Which would be easier?

Thanks in advance

Hi AKD594,
What lighting will you be using, high, med or low light? Hydrocotyle Tripartita grows in med and low light but really only stays low and carpets in High light and CO2. Marsilea Hirsuta is also a high ligh loving plant but will grow in lower lighting, though at a super slow rate.

Well, I wouldn't know about Hydrocortyle because I have never used it, but about Marsilea if you are patient you will be happy, I suppose; you should know that you will never have the Cuba carpet effect though

Tripartita is great, it grew in my tank with low lighting and zero ferts or co2; before I got high tech
