Make shift filter

Hi,

I've set up a small 10 litre tank to keep some baby shrimp in until they reach maturity & then I'll release them into my main tank...

I had no filter though so I used a small powerhead (100ltr/hr) and attached some foam pieces around the inlet... Will this function well enough as a filter?

Also - been feeding them bits of cucumber/fish flakes - will this be enough?

Low on aesthetic appeal but should prove a suitable substrate for nitrifying bacteria colonization, and for a few shrimp an adequate surface area
