I want to up the filtering on my tank. At the moment the inlet and outlet are 16mm Eheim u-bends. I am finding it really difficult to find anything bigger than 16mm. No one seems to make dedicated aquarium u-bends above 16mm. Has anyone else had this problem?

Anyway, unless someone can point me in the right direction, I was thinking about going for something like this:

Asthetically they would look quite good but...

Is it O.K. to use steel pipe work in an aquarium?

if your looking for 'diy' stainless pipes, I'd go with 316 stainless. much less likely to corrode. more expensive though.

I have used stainless on my pond in the filter stages. I only use 316. A fellow keeper used non 316 and had all sorts of Fish health issues. Not sure what grade it was so be careful.

316 is the good stuff... I have had a lump of it in tongue for many years ;)

Cheers for the link to the mesh company... I've saved that as I have a perfect use in mind for it...
