just a quick question does this plant spread by runners as on some pics is bushy and on others its like a carpet


by my gess it doesnt as it looks like a stem any helps great

its a stem. and new shoots grow off the horizontal stem. thats what im seeing anyway.

im getting carpet like growth with m umbrosum.

for me it's just growing low. a stem "crawls" horizontally, and from each node?....a new shoot develops giving a dense look. i did want it to grow upwards, but i quite like the low growth. especialy as its growing amongst the crypts and e tenellus

HM can be trained to grow as a carpet and many american aquascapers do, it's one for a bigger tank though.

If you want, you can get a stem, and plant the bottom of the stem like normal, but also plant the top as well so it is spread across the substrate, it will then produce side shoots and grown up and be quite bushy.
