Hi all,

I'm a few weeks of yet, but am looking to get a pair of German blue rams as title states.

I've been doing some reading and am aware that a lot of the fish available at local fish stores are often somewhat diluted in colour/quality from generations of 'not so' selective breeding.

Does anyone know of any uk based breeders/ sellers of nice quality specimens?

Thanks for any help!

They're so hit and miss these days.... I struggled to come across any breeders in the UK which is ideally the better option. The hardiest ones I've had so far have been from pier aquatics. Ive travelled from Durham twice to get them now and still going strong after a year.

Hi @Jonnywylie

There is a very good private aquatics supplier in my area. The guy who runs the shop (Jamie) used to always have some excellent GBRs in his store. I don't know if he ships livestock by courier though. Anyway, this is the store:

I haven't visited the store for well over a year because of Coronavirus lockdowns.

Did you go to Aquatic Design Center and check there yet (seeing as you're also in South London, assuming that's your LFS)? I've always admired the rams they have there and rather fancied them myself, as they looked very perky and sparkly and interactive to me whenever I've been. ADC has really good fish, I've never had a sick/diseased fish from them before or any immediate goners, and they have a specialist soft water section with all sorts of SA fish and dwarf cichlids.
