Iv read that u can use mineral oil or even baby oil in ur bubble checker to avoid evaporation is it worth doing or just top up with water ?

Water works OK, oil gives slow bubbles (pretty), just make sure it doesnt come into the tank, glycerine is safer and gives slow bubbles too.

How about olive oil?

Just make sure you keep the oil out of the tank, just to be safe.

Be careful olive oil and mineral oil will probable attack any rubber seals. Glycerine should be ok.

Or get a bubble counter, like say the JBL Pro Flora, that holds a large volume of water so takes months and months before needs refilling and with a water container easily unscrews so can be trivially filled up.
