Moss ID?

Back in August I threw some moss cuttings into a water feature in my garden (may have been xmas or willow). The water was soon green with algae so I thought no more about it. On going out into the garden today I've noticed this:





Can anybody ID this or is it just some kind of garden moss that has grown?

If it is from your tank, a quick rinse and I bet it's heading back for the tank. It looks great.

I think you're right Nath, just compared it with some in my shrimp tank.

I'm surprised it has survived in the cold.

I have enough of it already in my tank if its willow I suppose if it went back in a tank you'd have to step the temperature up with it?

I suppose it looks Nice where it is. it's like a grow moss where ever it falls challenge.

Could well be willow, willow moss will survive in UK weather as we can find it growing native.

Hi all,
I'm pretty sure it isn't Fontinalis, unfortunately we have a lot of native mosses that look similar. Hmm the submersed version doesn't look bad at all, should be quite handy to use for a shrimp tank and breeding setups, just pop out to the back garden and pick some up to use.
