I though I would show my first aquascape, it's still at his early stage (3 weeks since planted) but as I am so pleased with it I wanted share my success. I am happy that I am managing to keep 15 CRS as well as keeping my plants grow properly. I have kept the tank unplanted for one week as I wanted to make sure that I could cycle the tank through the first stage without light. I could have waited a bit longer until the tank was fully cycled but I didn't had the patience to wait that long. Initially I had no problem having both led strips on my 602 but soon I discovered some hair Algea, so I dropped the photo time and halfed my light output. I added some easy carbon daily, some Algexit and upped my Co2 level. In conjunction with the twinstar it seems to work just fine now and finally I can do 8 hours with the single LED strip. I am not sure if the second is necessary in this tank, but who knows it might be worth playing around a little in the future. I used 6L of Power sand special S and 9L of Aqua powder Amazonia. I used Seiryu stone for my hard scape as it would look good with the CRS and the greenery. At the moment I find it hard to keep a steady TDS for the shrimps as it increase by 15-20ppm every day. There is must be a few things leaching or the fert that may add to my TDS level.

I wanted to achieve a landscape between Iwugami and Biotope. I would have liked to include sand but then I was worried that I would make a mess. But all in all I am happy with the global visual aspect.

Thanks for checking my tank out and will post an update in a few weeks when everything is fully grown.

Nice! Another crystal clear setup with a twinstar! Im becoming very tempted.

Where did you get the twinstar if you dont mind me asking?

Thank you. I only use biological media with one pre made purigen bag. The twinstar has worked really well, I think. I only had a bit of hair Algea and that's it.

I got mine from The Green Machine.

Don't take me wrong I still got a few spot Algea on the glass here and there but easy to remove but the plants are thriving. I wish I had more experience so that I could see any difference. But from what I have read, people seems to be genuinely happy with the twinstar.

I think using minerals and BT-9 does keep plants and fauna well balanced.

Seiryu stone will raise the hardness of the water. Looks great.

Just read about it this morning! Difficult to rip it out now. Well they seem to be happy for now. I have a 30L shrimp tank running his cycle so at the worst they can be relocated to a new home.

Little update on the on goings of my tanks.

After being away for 5 days, I came to check my tank and as expected it had a bit more hair algea on a few places and I had loads of white sticky film on the surface. So decided to change my fert routine and dosing. I ditched the ADA stuff for EI dry salts mix. I am feeling that I am lacking of Nitrogen so instead of buying some more ADA stuff, I came to the conclusion to go for dry salts. At least now I know what's going in my tank and I am totally in control of what's going in. The rest of the ADA fert will be used in my future 30L shrimp tank that is still cycling so nothing gets thrown away. The TDS increased for 130 to 184 in 5 days so not to pleased but pleased with that but there is nothing I can do but do my 50% wc every week and stay on top of it. So far adding 30ppm/25L to my Ro water seems to work. The shrimps are moulting well.

Today first time I trimmed the Hc, repens, Hydro and the moss. A lot more work then I thought it would be, especially when it come to keeps Hc short.

The shrimps have really grown well over last week and they seems still very happy in my high-tech tank. Obviously it would be great to see them breeding one day but I will need to wait a fair bit longer before they are all adults.

So far no issues, just glad to come home and see that everything is going well and happy.

I hope I have trimmed the right way for the repens, I am not to sure if it's good enough? Please share if it's alright or not.

Cheers
