New Fish & Water Change?

I got a new fish this morning.

A Panda Garra (Garra Flavatra).

He's a lovely little chap, only about 1 inch, so still a juvenile.

He's been in my 50 US gallon for around 7 hrs, and is acting very shy and upset with his new surroundings. Not unusual for a new fish.

Question is, should I stick to my weekly water change in an hours time or leave the water change another 24 hrs.

On one hand I hate to break my routine, the tank is E.I. Dosed and by the end of the week needs a nice water change to reset. He might like the fresh water, everyone else in the tank does.

On the other hand he's only had 7 hrs, would the water change be a bit too stressful on his first night?

What do think?

Hi
I dare say if you got the fish from the LFS their tanks will be very aerated....and if you little chap goes into yours that may have Co2/Ferts!
He could well be quite stressed🐟.
I would aerate the tank as much as possible and monitor his wellbeing.

I agree and maybe next time do weekly water change and then introduce new fish.
In that way,the fish or fishes have a week to adapt to new tank condition's before water change time.;)
