Hi all, been reading the forum intently. Some very knowledgeable people here! My first aqua scape is about 8 weeks old, the filter was on my old tank (just fish) so fully cycled etc already. Equipment list is:
Biomaster 600
Chihiros series AII light (running 60% for 7 hours a day)
Aquario flow pipes with inline diffuser
Aquario air neo on for 2 hours in the night
Drop checker is green before lights on but I seem to be getting the green stringy algae on plants
Tank has a few fish including ottos. Amano shrimp and some nerite snails.
Please any advice on what I’m doing wrong?
Thanks
Jon

Hi
Thank you for the information....it makes such a difference when trying to get to the root causes of various algae issue!

Like the scape
Firstly the aquarium isn't very mature yet!
I would say you need to get your plant mass up using fast cheap stem plants....these can be removed at a later date!
I'm not familiar with Chihiros lighting I dare say they are pretty powerful....so reducing the intensity might help.
I would add floating plants.....or use this Tutorial below.

Following this thread as I'm in a similar situation with a 9 week old tank. Same algae issues.

As Hoggie suggested above and also, with a new tank it’s not unusual for the plants to discard older leaves and, as these deteriorate, they can be a bit of an algae magnet, so snipping off anything in poor condition or badly affected by algae is good practice too. You might need to make a judgement call if it’s prolific but taking out the worst may help the tank to get on top of things and damaged leaves aren’t really doing anything to benefit the plant.
