New system filtration

Hey guys, I’m currently in the process of setting up my first large planted system. It’s approx 750L in total including the sump.
I have used crushed lava rock as the lower level (to help increase height for scape) which is below a layer of aqua soil and finally capped with a thin layer of sand.
I am planning on planting heavily and just currently contemplating whether I need to use something like K1 in the sump?
I will be using vertical sponge filters (50mm thick) in the first section (25ppi followed by 35ppi), and then a final filter (50ppi) to polish the water before the return.
Will these filters provide enough space for the bio filter for this sized system or would the extra K1 section be advisable too?
Also, should I then set the K1 up from the very beginning or add it in later as bioload increases?
