New type of LED

What they say it's not RGB in a way that's just marketing blahblahblahblahblahblahblahs.. If you look up how a Light Emiting Diode (for short LED) works and gives light. Than a non prepared LED gives only Blue light.. The Red, Green and Yellow to make the light appear white to us, is added to coat the diode with a Phosporus compount. Pure Phosporus is 100% white.. Impurities (metals etc.) in the phospor add the other wavelengths (colors).

So bottom line each led giving a white light is an RGB on it's own starting with Blue.. Contains more or less the whole spectrum, or else we wouldn't perseive it as white.. And note, professionaly build lights for horticulture, do not aim towards aestethics, they aim towards wavelenghts for effective best productivity in mass and or taste. You might end up with a light good for growing plants, but not showing them in their best appearance. :)

You actually get native emitting red, green and blue LED's. Red is gallium & arsenic base, green gallium & indium & phosphorus and blue gallium nitride. These are what you would see in an RGB LED.

To generate a white LED, you either mix RGB LEDs or use an ultraviolet LED coated in a phosphor they emits white. This is same process as fluorescent tubes that ionise the gas in the tube (mercury based vapour), it emits UV light and the phosphor coating on the tube fluoresces white.
 
Thanks for the details ian_m :) Just wanted to say the "It is not RGB statement from the seller is just a space filling talk that contributes nothing to the story.
It is just a white light COB LED unit, probably with a perfect spectrum for crops (daylight).. And white light in a way is RGB, it contains these colors by nature.. :)

Oh @dean fiy just search the net for COB led units, they are already some time around in all shapes and sizes. Compaired to power consumption and effective surface area very strong. Up to over 50 watt and 40000 lum per unit.. The realy strong ones need a heatsink and forced fan cooling.. The units are not realy expensive, it's the rest around it, the cooling and driving that takes up the work. But if you are into diy, you can build something realy strong for a reasonable price.. COB leds are perfect for above an aquarium, i'm using them above the low tech (5x10 watt) for over a year now and realy sattisfied. Just have to play a little with the 3 available white colors to find the color mix you like the most.
 
Sometimes I really hate you guys for knowing so much about the science behind things but then again if there are no braniacs here, then it'll just be a forum of the blind leading the blind.
