This sounds great. It would be fantastic to be able to pop in whenever instead of delivery day :)

Let me assure you all, that progress will be made. The ball is rolling.

The Tropica plant care range will be avaible in pets at home store quite soon. Limited to premium fertaliser, Tropica substrate, and the system 60 co2 kits, initially.

Plant stotage will be changing shortly, with ful back up from Tropica in the maintenence and storage of aquatic plants.

.

This is great news indeed.. really really good..

The day PAH has some CO2 in the shops, and the premium fertilizer, coupled with the nice tanks they will see, things will surely change for the Home Aquarium Market.. it is very good indeed.

Couldnt agree more, here in leicester its a nightmare to get anything planted tank wise, theres 2 pah within 6 miles of me so stocking ferts etc coupled with improvements in plant stock will be fantastic :)

Can I just ask why only the premium fertiliser and not the specialised? Guessing that its due to the market, most people only having a couple of plants and more fish, not necessarily the high energy heavily planted set ups many of us here run? Still would have thought the plants would benefit from N & P too? Maybe slowly slowly is the approach to changing long standing perceptions and misconceptions.
Cheers

I think that they should cater for all markets, but also makes sense to start small and see how the market develops.. It would be a great investment for PAH, lots of shops..

Maybe they can have a TV with a rolling introduction, showing aquascapes, and how to set them up. Maybe some ready kits for specific scapes, like the ones some UKAPS members did for Tropica.

I believe that people would enjoy that, and would also educate the staff on how to advise prospective plan buyers.

UKAPS had an amazing video running at the last London Aquatics.. I am used to seeing tanks, aquascaping, etc, and I spent a while in front of the TV ... many people were there as well..

A similar video could really help out the newbies that visit the shops.

ive seen these already in a p@h near me, i think this in line with the new ideas and product stock there will be a good foundation to build from. Accessibility is limiting sometimes, being able to see 'aquascapes' alone will encourage more to get involved. Before i found ukaps i only ever remember seeing Dutch style aquariums in tropical fish books and i thought they were amazing, i spent years killing lots of plants but always wanting a heavily planted tank . I always liked hardscape though, interest for the fish, plecs, catfish etc, so seeing the nature aquarium approach and all that can be achieved and is available blew my mind....admittedly the internet nowadays makes it easier, but only if you know what your looking for in the first place ;)
Tropica products, booklets and videos and pushing the website with all the layout options will definitely be a good thing, then hopefully all those interested will find us too. Many have and do try, but Tropica via P@H will open things up more i feel.
Cheerio,

I hope I'm back from Poland for the Stockport event. would love to swap my 'taking plants out of pots and prep for planting' expertise for ' keeping plants alive and not needing to 'take plants out of pots and prep for planting' expertise! This is a great chance to increase exposure to the hobby, I hope we can all take the time to explain that you can't just walk into this hobby and expect miracles to happen! This has the potential to bring the hobby into the absolute mainstream, it also has the potential to become the new finding nemo.

It will be great to see as many people there as possible.

It's also good to see another store doing a planted aquarium. The guys that came over from Pets @ Home, were all enthusiastic, and all learned tremendous amounts.

It's encouraging to see more display tanks getting produced, not just for companies involved, but for the hobby as a whole.

Kind regards,

Tropica

I am going to the fosse park event as it is closer to home. With all the problems at home and having the police here everyday, we cannot leave mother alone for 2 days.
Gutted but family 1st before fish. Fosse park is going to be a big event by the talk. and lots of plants arriving today for the show.
