As promised I went in again to pets at home today to take some better photos. Plant health is really nice and lush and clearly showing the tank is being looked after properly. Unfortunately one of the sump pumps has failed so their was a little haze but they have 3 huge cascade filters due to be put on soon.
Its mainly the sheer depth of the tank that makes it appear murky but its not plus one central halide is out.

Haze or no that is epic.

To be honest the murkiness looks extremely similar to what I suffer from in the Bucket, which I've always assumed was down to using unwashed sand. I bet if they hooked up some extra filters running 1 micron filter socks (like what you use for cleaning oil) like I do they'd clear it. More maintenance though.

Unless it's microbubbles from that Twinstar style thingy in the corner?

Get em to turn all the lights off in the shop for the next FTS please Alistair ;)

LOL :)
will do at the end of this month :)
bad idea

When they turn the lights back on , they will find that Alastair has nicked the tank!
ha ha close. My intention is to slowly pinch some plants each visit ;). On a serious note though the crypts were seriously huge. Easily 20cm tall.
Just go at closing time, i'm sure they wouldn't mind someone taking a pic after lights out.
did ask them and they said its ok to take some shots as theyre closing.

Looks epic, nearly as big as Alastair's tank too ;)

That would be my final aim in 2 ish years time to have half that size tank in my house. Similar to amanos home tank. Im already saving ;)

True story: a guy i knew, who was an expert in making beautifull biotope tanks, desinged and crafted an Asian biotope creek of app 8 meter long and app 2 meter wide and 1,5 m deep. The creek bordered the basement of a wealthy person, so he could sit there at the bar and look at it. It was huuuuuge (and heated while open to the outdoors topside).

Good man Alastair for the shots. It is looking alot better, when the filter problems are fixed and it is even clearer, proper professional pics should be taken

Yeah agreed. I can do some good ones but the lights all around it including tanks need to be off.
Was having a good chat with one of the lads who works their

Looking great.
I literally drove right past the store yesterday on my way home from a short family trip away, but was refused another 'quick' stop off by 'her indoors' who's patience had already run a little thin with some of the other stop offs along the way. I wish i had manned up a little as it looks to have improved massively and the growth looks epic.
Cheers for the updated pics Al, and nice to see the hoodie out and spreading the word
Cheerio,
Ady.

Sorry to be the Prophet of Doom - just been into Stockport P@Home to catch up on the Monster tank and was completely underwhelmed . It's a big tank , it's got some wood and plants and it's got some fish in it ! From the point of view of a member of public , it doesn't make you think ' I want a piece of that ' The choice of fish revolves around Silver with 2/3 small RTB sharks which will look great when they mature - the focal point of the tank is the bottom up to 20" so think it needs some Clown Loaches to draw the eye in . Personally I would turn the flow down and put some Angels or Discus in there .
Looking at the rest of the store I've got to say that their displays of fish are a touch uninspiring too - no need for that these days , maybe the choice in display is governed by what they have going spare .
