Will be making a trip up to Belfast this week, what do people think of this place?
Is it worth a visit, or will I just nip into Grosvenor Tropicals like I usually do.. ?

Thanks guys,
Kris.

Ive been, not quite as snazzy as the website I afraid and when I was last there the selection or standard wasn't great, grosvenors dwarfs this little place im afraid! Unfortunately NI has little selection, Grosvenors, PA or dobbies has a decent selection and layout for a non specialist fish place, otherwise I cant think of anywhere bar very small petshops

where are you based?

Hi Christor,
I'm in County Louth so dobbies and grosvenor would be closer anyway. I do like the two places, I also took a trip out to ExoticAquatics last week and it was quite good! Mainly marine though they did sell some good stuff for planted.
Spotted some Pygmy Cory's for just 1.50 each! thought that was a great deal.
What's PA?

Thanks,
Kris

Ahh down the country a bit, im from Tyrone myself but studying in Belfast so close to them all, ahh yes forgot about it, yeh selection isnt as good as grosvenors with size but some interesting bits...im itching to get to Dublin, some great places there if you want a few sites to look first or if you get down yourself

You're lucky! I have to go to Dublin or Belfast to get to a decent LFS.
I keep meaning to go to seahorse aquariums in Dublin 22. It's supposed to be great! Also a friend pointed me to AquaWorld in Dub, said they are great for planted and have a good selection of shrimp.
Theres a great place in Malahide, good prices but I go just to see their display. They have OAK Bogwood from a bog in Cork, its huge, literally a tree trunk. They are having problems with it leaching P+K though I think.
But definitely get down to Dub there's a few good places!

Yeah was in Dublin back but only made it to seahorse im afraid, were a few more i would have liked to see, aquaworld looks brilliant! pretty new I think, know of the guy who owns it from another forum, hes very into his shrimp, you can check his website as well if you havent seen it

whats the place called with the oak?

How was Seahorse? I havent been.

My friends mate runs aquaworld - he's from Poland. Apparently crazy into his shrimp. Yeah saw the website but it was a bit weird.

Its www.kinsealypetstore.ie.. definitely worth a visit, not far from Dublin. It'd be on your way home really.

Kris

It was good yeah, though much the same as grsovenors to me, doesnt seem many more tanks, though in saying that variety is better, more shrimp and other more unusual little things, plants werent great when I was in though, maybe a bad day though

Aquatic village, seahorse, aquaworld and fins fur and feathers all seem good places

yeah is he Manius?

unfortunately rarely if ever in Dublin bar for gigs, by the way are you on the irish fish keepers forums?

Ah right. I must go down and have a look anyway! Would love to see their actual seahorses, did you catch a glimpse :D
Aquatic Village is in wicklow isn't it? Apparently they're great for getting trade-ins. My mate got a proven breeding pair of Oscars there not so long ago. Bit of a jump from keeping mollies for him, but he's handling them pretty well. They've been trying to spawn but he hasn't put slate in yet for them as he doesnt want the trouble

I don't know what his name is, apparently he's a really down to earth guy though!
Ah one day we should go down and go fish hunting together  Instead of dragging my unwilling girlfriend down. She is interested, but not as much as to go to more than one shop. And I also hate going clothes shopping

I am on the Leinster one I think. But UKAPS is much better and I live in Ipswich for Uni so its better for me.

Kris

Yeah I didnt see any unfortunately, knew they kept them but not quite sure where!

Nah it is in or near brittas direction? just outside Dublin but not very far away, outskirts if you could differentiate between dublin and the country heh

Ha tell me about it, mine is slightly interested just because I am but she isnt keen on being dragged to the shops :p though I think I have got her interested in shrimp slightly

There must be some decent stores around you in ipswich surely? well its called irish fish keepers, got a big following, well biggest forum I know of in Ireland, should check it out!
