Her name is Pixie and she is a Portuguese Podengo.
They are great dogs, don't go around chewing the place up and hardly bark, and very clever, they learn things pretty quickly.
They love kids and just about anyone else, and when I go walking her I get all the attention from the ladies!

I'm definately a cat person, but I've always liked small dogs (though still not as nice as cats :p) That's a really cute dog :)

Always been a dog fan :) She looks a bit more lively and characterful than some of the other small/toy dog breeds.

She is a beautiful looking dog. Never seen (or heard of) the breed, but they are lovely indeed!

Some history regarding the breed, I would recommend to anyone that as kids and wants a small dog, these are even well suited for people in apartments. Mine is a Small Podengo, doesn't get too big, around the size of a Jack Russel with taller legs, looks like a little fox in the flesh.

Interesting, I was thinking along the lines of a jack russel when I get a dog, certainly worth remembering.

I've a jack russle and I have to say they're the best dogs, so characterful and just so amusing, rough collies are lovely too but mine was so simple.

Thank you for the info on the breed London Dragon :) I must admit that when you originally posted this, I immediately googled myself, emailed the link to my oh and then we had a lengthy conversation about it on the phone (at work  ). Definitely one we may consider when time comes for another dog - hubby has a JRT and I have a lab/lurcher type dog.

JRT's are unbelievably loyal dogs ("our" JRT is unfortunately only loyal to my oh) and incredibly stubborn but smart ime - if not trained or treated well from the start there can be problems as we found out, as ours is a rescue dog.

    Re: My other Pet

When we decided to get a dog we did a lot of research, we want a small dog that we could easilly take on our travels to Portugal, larger dogs can become a nightmare when travelling.
At first I did think about a Jack Russel but after reading about the breed we decided that it wasn't really the dog for us, even though we don't have any kids yet its temperaments are not great.

This an interesting reply I seen about JRT:
After speak to a friend that as one we decided not to go down the JRT path and decided to look for something else, we found the Podengo breed at Discovering Dogs in London, they were so amazing that we just had to get one. Sometimes due to work we have to leave it alone for more that 4 hours at a time and a JR would just destroy the place lol Pixie sleeps most of the time, I have a webcam on her bed so I can keep an eye during the day haha ;)

    Podengo Temperaments:
So far we are very happy with it and would recommend to anyone that wants one and someone that as kids they will love them and play with them all day long.
Yesterday we took Pixie to the park and for the first time we let her off the leash, the girlfriend was about to have an heart attack LOL but I went for it anyway hehe all I can say is AMAZING!!!! stayed close to us all the time, when drifted off a little to play with a kid, or chase a ball or go after another dog, we just called her and she came back. Two an a half hours like this and made her "parents" very happy ;)

If anyone is interested in the breeder information and to know more about how we got her, just let me know.
